Description
This research examines the types of tourism and hospitality campaigns cities use when they host the Super Bowl, and takes into account how successful those campaigns and efforts are. By comparing host cities, the research found that the campaigns fall into a few main categories. These categories include promoting the city's culture, promoting the city's entertainment scene, working with businesses and sponsors in order to attract visitors, and improving infrastructure to withstand the rise in large crowds that they will see. The study measures success by looking at statistics such as hotel bookings, dollar amounts spent by visitors, media attraction to the city, and whether or not tourism continues to grow after the event. Overall, cities that have combined their strong branding with support from major sponsors have seen the most short-term success.
