Abstract

Attracting and igniting today's college students to the exciting world of gaming can be challenging. Students often overlook the depth and breadth of career opportunities in the casino industry. Using the tools of ACUE (Association Of College and University Educators), effective research-based teaching practices open up possibilities and connections for students. Dr. Hogan will present how she blends theory with practice through her executive leadership course at UNR. Student teaching evaluations prove that this method for teaching students about the gaming industry has opened up job opportunities for graduating seniors, has sparked deep curiousity in the minds of students, and has bridged an important gap between students and the gaming profession. Teaching techniques, class activities, and exposure to executive gaming professionals will be shared in this presentation.
