This presentation illustrates how open educational resources can enrich a Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers course by helping future teachers learn beyond the textbook. The session highlights freely available open resources, such as open mathematics tasks, openly licensed videos of classroom interactions, and visual or inquiry based activities from sources such as Youcubed and other OER collections.

Participants will see concrete examples of how these resources are used in class to support reasoning, collaboration, and deeper understanding of elementary mathematics. Demonstrations will include how open tasks are introduced, how students engage with multiple representations, and how open videos of real learners support discussions about mathematical thinking.

Participants will leave with links to open resources, classroom structures that support active engagement, and practical ideas for bringing open materials into their own courses. The session connects directly to the conference theme by showing how open education can transform learning beyond the textbook and create more meaningful mathematics experiences for future teachers.
